Raed Saad

Raed Saeed Hussein Saad, also known as Abu Muadh, was one of the senior figures in Hamas’s military wing in the Gaza Strip and a member of the organization’s Supreme Military Council. He was part of the small forum of senior Hamas figures responsible for planning and carrying out the October 7 attack. He was considered one of the founders of Hamas’s military wing. He was imprisoned in Israel for 14 months and was later imprisoned by the Palestinian Authority security services for four years. During the 2005 disengagement period, he served as commander of the Gaza City Brigade. Following Operation Cast Lead, as part of Hamas’s lessons-learned process, he initiated the establishment of a military academy to train the organization’s fighters. During Operation Guardian of the Walls, he served as head of Hamas’s Operations Department, and his home was struck in an Israeli Air Force attack. He was appointed head of the Production Staff and was responsible for the production of rocket launchers, missiles, and anti-tank weapons, as well as for the development of Hamas’s extensive tunnel network in the Gaza Strip.
