Ra’ed Saeed Hussein Saad, known as Abu Muaz, is a senior commander of Hamas’ military wing in the Gaza Strip and a member of the organization’s Supreme Military Council.
He was part of the small forum of senior Hamas commanders responsible for planning and executing the October 7 attack.
He is considered one of the founders of Hamas’ military wing. He was imprisoned in Israel for 14 months and later detained by the Palestinian Authority’s security forces for four years.
In 2005, he served as commander of the Gaza City Brigade.
After Operation Cast Lead, he initiated the establishment of a military academy for training the organization’s fighters.
During Operation Guardian of the Walls, he served as head of Hamas’ Operations division, and his home was hit in an Israeli Air Force strike.
He was appointed head of the Production division, responsible for manufacturing rocket launchers, missiles, and anti-tank weapons, as well as developing Hamas’ extensive tunnel network in the Gaza Strip.
