Muhammad Odeh is the commander of Hamas’s military wing in the Gaza Strip, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, and a member of the organization’s military council.
Born in the Jabalia refugee camp in the northern Gaza Strip. Between 2017 and 2019, he served as commander of the Northern Gaza Strip Brigade.
During the October 7 attack, he served as the head of the organization’s intelligence headquarters and was part of the small group of senior Hamas officials responsible for planning and executing the attack.
In 2024, reports indicated that he had effectively assumed command of the Northern Gaza Strip Brigade following the killing of Ahmad Ghandour in November 2023.
In May 2026, it was reported that he had been appointed as the commander of Hamas’s military wing in the Gaza Strip after the killing of Izz ad-Din Haddad.
