The central command responsible for planning, coordinating, and deploying the armed forces at the operational level. Until 2016, the command was part of the armed forces command, but following an organizational reform, it became an independent body. The role of the Khatam al-Anbiya Command expanded after the reform, and today it carries the main responsibility for the deployment of Iran's armed forces. It coordinates military activity between the different forces through regional commands under its authority, and it oversees all the operational activities of the Iranian army. Additionally, the command operates independent research and development bodies, factories, and academic institutions specializing in security and military technology. As a result of the new structure, the command now plays a key role in deploying the Iranian army and in developing the country's military capabilities.
