He was an employee of the Higher Council for Youth and Sports Affairs in the Palestinian Authority. In October 2008, he carried out a stabbing attack in the Gilo neighborhood of Jerusalem, in which he murdered an elderly man and injured a policeman. He was sentenced to life imprisonment. He was released on October 13, 2025, after 16 years in prison, as part of the deal to free the living hostages from the Gaza Strip. According to the terms of the deal, he was permanently expelled from the West Bank.
