Mohammad Pakpour

Commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps since June 13, 2025. Previously served as Commander of the Ground Forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps starting in 2009. Born in 1961 in the city of Arak in western Iran. During the Iran–Iraq War, he commanded an armored unit of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and was wounded in battle. He holds a degree in Geography from the University of Tehran and a PhD in Political Geography. Between 1997 and 2000, he served as commander of the Najaf Ashraf Mechanized Infantry Division. Between 2000 and 2003, he commanded the Ashura Armored Division. From 2003 to 2008, he served as Chief of Staff of the Ground Forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. Between 2008 and 2009, he served as Deputy Commander for Operations of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. Between 2009 and 2025, he served as Commander of the Ground Forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
