Secretary-General of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, responsible for the murder of Minister Rehavam Ze'evi.
Born in Al-Bireh to a refugee family from the village of Deir Tarif. First arrested by Israel in 1969 due to his activities in the Popular Front. In 1981, elected to the central committee of the Popular Front.
From 1989 to 1993, he was held in administrative detention for a total of two years. In 1994, elected head of the Popular Front in the West Bank.
Appointed Secretary-General of the Popular Front in October 2001, after the IDF assassinated his predecessor, Abu Ali Mustafa.
In retaliation for the assassination of Abu Ali Mustafa, he planned the murder of Minister Rehavam Ze'evi. After the assassination on October 17 of that year, he fled to the Palestinian Authority's government complex in Ramallah. Yasser Arafat refused to extradite him, and in response, Israel laid siege to the complex. After negotiations between the parties, mediated by the United States and Britain, an agreement was reached known as the Ramallah Agreement, under which he was brought to a Palestinian military trial and subsequently imprisoned in Jericho under the supervision of British and American guards.
After his victory in the Palestinian Legislative Council elections in January 2006, the Hamas organization announced its intention to release the murderers of Rehavam Ze'evi, including Saadat.
On March 14, 2006, at 09:00 in the morning, the British and American guards left the prison due to fears for their lives. In response, the IDF launched an operation that laid siege to the prison where Saadat was held. After a 10-hour siege, he was captured and brought to prison in Israel.
In December 2008, he was sentenced to 30 years in prison.
