Sentenced to life imprisonment for planning the suicide bombing on Jaffa Street in Jerusalem in January 2002. During the attack, a female suicide bomber detonated a 22-kg explosive device, killing an 81-year-old Israeli citizen and injuring dozens of people. He was released from prison on February 15, 2025, after 22 years of imprisonment, as part of the sixth phase of the hostage deal. According to the terms of the deal, he was permanently expelled from the West Bank.
