Salim Muhammad Saeed Salim Hijja

Senior Hamas figure from the village of Burka, sentenced to 16 life sentences for his involvement in a suicide attack on Line 16 in Haifa on December 2, 2001. The attack killed 15 people and injured 40. In addition, he was a member of the Hamas cell that was also responsible for the attacks on the Sabarro restaurant and the Dolphinarium. He was released from prison on January 25, 2025, after 22 years of imprisonment, as part of the second phase of the hostage deal. According to the terms of the deal, he was permanently expelled from the West Bank.
