Arrested on April 4, 1978 and convicted by the military court for belonging to a Fatah terrorist cell. The cell members made explosives and attempted to carry out attacks. On January 29, 1978, together with the cell members, he caused the death of a bus driver, Mordechai Yakuel. Released from prison in 2011, as part of the Shalit deal. Rearrested in 2014, and it was decided to return him to serve a life sentence following a violation of the terms of his release. The main charges he was convicted of are: intentional death; conspiracy to commit a crime; membership in an unrecognized organization; carrying/possession of explosive devices. He was released from prison on February 27, 2025, as part of the seventh phase of the hostage deal. According to the terms of the deal, he was permanently expelled from the West Bank.
