He was sentenced to 20 years in prison for his involvement in an attack that killed Lieutenant Uri Binamo and injured three other soldiers in 2005 at a checkpoint near Tulkarm. He was released from prison on February 27, 2025, after 19 years of imprisonment, as part of the seventh phase of the hostage deal. According to the terms of the deal, he was expelled from the West Bank. Died of cancer in Egypt shortly after his release.
