Muhammad Nazzal is one of the leaders of the Hamas movement abroad and a member of its Political Bureau.
He was born in Amman, Jordan, in 1963, to a Palestinian family from the city of Qalqilya.
He studied in schools in Kuwait, earned a bachelor's and a master's degree in chemistry from the University of Karachi in Pakistan, and in 1989 received a diploma in communications from Kuwait University.
He joined the Muslim Brotherhood in his youth and became involved in its religious, educational, social, and cultural activities. During his studies in Pakistan, he stood out in Islamic student activism and served as Secretary-General of the Muslim Students Association in Pakistan.
He joined Hamas and devoted himself to its activities in 1989. In 1992, he became Hamas’s representative in Jordan and one of the key figures shaping the relationship between Hamas and the Jordanian regime.
Nazzal has been a member of Hamas’s Political Bureau since 1996.
Since the 1990s, he has appeared in the media, delivering statements reflecting the movement’s position on various issues.
Over the years, he has been compelled to reside in more than one Arab capital: after settling in Jordan in the 1990s, he moved to Damascus between 2002 and 2011, and later relocated to other capitals.
He was appointed Deputy Head of Hamas abroad.
