He holds a bachelor’s degree in electronic engineering from Khajeh Nasir Toosi University of Technology.
He began his military career in 1979 with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and was among the IRGC’s commanders during the Iran–Iraq War.
From 1982 to 1984, he served as commander of the IRGC in Kurdistan Province; from 1983 to 1986, he commanded the Hamzeh Seyyed al-Shohada Headquarters; and from 1985 to 1988, he commanded the Najaf Ashraf Headquarters.
From 1987 to 1990, he served as Deputy Chief of Operations of the IRGC Joint Staff, and from 1989 to 1993, he served as Commander of the IRGC Ground Forces. From 1993 to 2007, Izadi served as Deputy for Planning, Programs, and Budget at the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Iran.
