He was convicted of carrying out a vehicular attack in the French Hill neighborhood of Jerusalem in 2015. In the attack, Shalom Sherki was murdered, and a woman was injured. He was sentenced to life imprisonment and an additional 20 years in prison. He was released from prison on January 25, 2025, after 9 years of imprisonment, as part of the second phase of the hostage deal. According to the terms of the deal, he was permanently expelled from the West Bank.
