Arrested on July 9, 1992, and sentenced to life imprisonment for his involvement in the murders of Menachem Stern, Eli Amsalem, and Hussein Zaid. Released from prison in 2013 after 21 years in prison, as part of a concession to the Palestinian Authority. In 2015, he stabbed a policeman near the Nablus Gate in Jerusalem, thereby violating the terms of his release and was returned to serve his sentence. Released from prison on January 25, 2025 after 9 years in prison, as part of the second phase of the hostage deal.
