Haroun Nasser al-Din

A Hamas operative in the organization’s command in Turkey. Born in Hebron in 1970, he became involved in Hamas activities in the West Bank at a young age and was captured by Israeli security forces in 1992. The principal offenses of which he was convicted included murder through hostile acts, carrying or possessing explosive devices, contact with a hostile organization, and military training. He was sentenced to life imprisonment. In 2011, after serving 19 years in prison, he was released as part of the Gilad Shalit prisoner exchange and deported to Turkey, where he has been involved in transferring funds to Hamas operatives in the West Bank and directing terrorist activity.
