A Palestinian security officer who was sentenced to life imprisonment plus ten years for his involvement in the kidnapping and murder of Eliyahu Ashri, an 18-year-old Jewish youth from the settlement of Itamar, in June 2006.
He served in the Criminal Identification Department of the Palestinian Authority Police in Ramallah, and was recruited to the Salah al-Din Brigades, the military wing of the Popular Resistance Committees, shortly before committing the crime.
He operated in cooperation with two other Palestinian security officers. According to the court's determination, he was directly involved in Ashri's kidnapping and murder.
He was released from prison on February 27, 2025, after 19 years in prison, as part of the seventh phase of the hostage deal.
