Ammar Abdul Rahman Al-Zaben

One of the leaders of Hamas' military wing in the 1990s. Sentenced to 27 life sentences for his involvement in a series of bomb attacks that killed 27 Israelis and injured more than 320 people. Among other things, he was one of the perpetrators of two consecutive suicide bombings in the Mahane Yehuda market on July 30, 1997. The attack killed 16 people and injured dozens more. He was released from prison on February 27, 2025, after 26 years of imprisonment, as part of the seventh phase of the hostage deal. According to the terms of the deal, he was permanently expelled from the West Bank.
