Arrested on April 20, 1986 for the murder of Zehava Ben Ovadia, and the attempted murder of tourists. The offenses for which he was imprisoned are: shooting at people; membership in an unrecognized organization; military training; possession of firearms. Released on October 18, 2011 as part of the first phase of the Shalit deal. Rearrested in 2014 and returned to serve his sentence. He was released from prison on February 27, 2025, as part of the seventh phase of the hostage deal. According to the terms of the deal, he was permanently expelled from the West Bank.
