He boarded a "service taxi" on bus 51 in central Petah Tikva, which was traveling toward Tel Aviv with eight passengers.
Around 10 a.m. in the area near Beilinson Hospital, he pulled out a knife and began stabbing the passengers.
The stabbing fatally injured Kinneret Ben Shalom, who died a short time later in the hospital. Four passengers - a 61-year-old woman, a 40-year-old woman, a 31-year-old man, and a 28-year-old woman - were moderately to seriously injured.
He was released on October 13, 2025, after 19 years in prison, as part of the deal to free the living hostages from the Gaza Strip.
