Released on October 18, 2011, as part of the first phase of the Shalit deal. Rearrested in 2014 and returned to serve his sentence. He was released from prison on February 27, 2025, as part of the seventh phase of the hostage deal. According to the terms of the deal, he was permanently expelled from the West Bank.
