Ahmed Khalil al-Modallal is a senior figure in the Palestinian Islamic Jihad organization and has been a member of its Political Bureau since 2023.
He was born in the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip in 1963, to a Palestinian family originally from the village of al-Batani al-Gharbi in the Gaza District.
In 1987, he received a bachelor’s degree from the Faculty of Science at Birzeit University and worked at the Central Blood Bank in Gaza.
He joined the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement in 1981 and was detained by Israel between 1991 and 1993.
Over the years, he held various positions within Islamic Jihad: he was responsible for the organizational committee, a member of the Department of National and Foreign Relations, head of the Refugee Affairs Department since 2017, and served as the organization’s spokesperson in the media.
In 2023, he was appointed as a member of the organization’s Political Bureau.
He participates in official delegations and delivers religious lessons and sermons in mosques.
He served as head of the Medical Laboratory Department at the Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip from 1995 to 2023.
