Ali Rida Abbas, known as Hajj Abu Hussein Barish, was born in 1964 and grew up in the town of Barish in the Tyre District of southern Lebanon.
In the 1990s, he survived an assassination attempt alongside Ibrahim Aqil, and since then advanced to senior military command positions in Hezbollah, including advanced training in Iran.
He is a former commander of the Badr Unit, responsible for the area north of the Litani River up to Sidon.
On September 19, 2024, during the Israeli Air Force operation “Arrows of the North,” the leadership of Hezbollah’s military wing was eliminated, except for Ali Rida Abbas, who, according to reports, was appointed the supreme commander of the Radwan Force.
