In February 2018, he decided to carry out an attack following an argument that occurred between him and IDF soldiers.
He purchased two knives from a store in Nablus, and drove to the Ariel Junction, where he noticed Itamar Ben Gal standing there.
He recognized him as a Jew because of his clothes and the kippah he was wearing. He approached him, pulled out one of the knives, and stabbed him forcefully in the chest and stomach.
Even after Itamar tried to flee the scene, he chased him with the aim of continuing to stab him, and this was only prevented thanks to a passerby who noticed what was happening and hit him with his vehicle.
He was captured by security forces about a month and a half later, and sentenced to life imprisonment.
