Abdul Aziz Al-Mohammadawi Abu Fadak

Abdul Aziz Al-Mohammadawi, known as Abu Fadak, is a leading figure in Iraq's Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), an umbrella group of militias, many of which are aligned with Iran. Abu Fadak assumed the role of chief of staff for the PMF after the death of Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis in a U.S. drone strike in 2020. He has played a key role in coordinating the PMF’s military efforts, particularly in the fight against ISIS, while also maintaining close ties with Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. His leadership within the PMF has reinforced the group’s influence in Iraq's military and political landscape.
